| 説明 | A double line of horses moving along a muddy road, past a destroyed German concrete position. The ground around the position is also muddy, and the remains of a duckboard path traversing the mud can clearly be seen. All of the horses have artillery packs strapped to their sides. This photograph combined with the language of the original caption is a good example of the type of material used by the Government and Military as propaganda. In particular, the words 'smashed' and 'wonderful' helped to reinforce the idea or belief that the British Forces were somehow invincible.[Original reads: 'OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN ON THE BRITISH WESTERN FRONT IN FRANCE. German concrete position smashed by our wonderful artillery. Ammunition pack-horses are seen going up with their loads for the guns.']digital.nls.uk/74547254 |
