| 説明 | This shell burst within 10 yards of the photographer .. a vivid effect of an every minute occurrence at the front.' Photograph is of a shell exploding during the Battle of Menin Road. While the main explosion is to the left, the whole shot is filled with debris flying through the air. In the background we can see a bleak and desolate landscape with stripped and lifeless trees.
