| 説明 | "August 9, 1941Dear Dad:Received your letter last week, but have felt too rotten to make any attempt at answering it. I don’t know whether the ailment is mental or physical, but whatever it is I can get no relief for it here. The only recourse I have is to turn in to the sick bay, but I wouldn’t trust their verdict any further than I could throw a bull by its tail. I received a letter from Rich in which he told me that he was now a Pfc with a third class specialist rating. That pays $54.00 per month which isn’t bad for a man with only four months in the service. I make only $65.00 myself-counting rifle money which expires in November and no chance of renewal due to the scarcity of ammunition-and it took me almost three years to get it.
