| 説明 | BR Diagram 1/217 'VANWIDE' 12 ton fitted goods van (with wide double doors for palletts) No.B782891 with plywood sides and doors and corrugated steel ends, in BR bauxite livery for fitted freights. Built by BR (Wolverton), Lot 3391 in 1961. 1,994 such vans were built by BR (Wolverton & Derby) in 1961-62. Diag.1/217 was the standard BR pallet van and replaced in production the initial attempt at such a van, the Diagram 1/211 'PALVAN', 2,388 of which were built in 1952-61 by BR (Faverdale & Wolverton) but which proved insufficiently robust to cope with the frequent loading of palletised goods, consequently suffering from excessive wear and instability at speed with the result that they had a very short life.
