| 説明 | TUCSON, Arizona – Family friend Ulrich Zamora addresses the nearly 2,000 people who attended the Celebration of Life service at the Tucson Convention Center Dec. 7 for Deputy U.S. Marshal Chase White, 41, who was killed in the line of duty while executing a felony arrest warrant Nov. 29 in north Tucson. A public viewing the night before at the Adair Avalon Funeral Chapel in Oro Valley was attended by approximately 300 members of law enforcement agencies from around the country. White joined the U.S. Marshals Service in 2015 and was assigned to the District of Arizona, Tucson office. Prior to joining the U.S. Marshals Service, White served in the U.S. Air Force from 2000 to 2007, rising to the rank of captain, and continued to serve in the Air Force Reserve, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel, working at the 926th Wing at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. While in the Air Force and Air Force Reserve, he earned many awards, including as the Meritorious Service Medal, two Air Force Commendation Medals, and two Air Force Achievement Medals.Between his active duty Air Force time and his joining the U.S. Marshals, he worked as an Investigator for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Las Vegas from 2009 to 2015. In that role, he helped enforce federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of race, religion, sex, age, disability, and other factors.He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Illinois in 2000. While serving in the Air Force, he simultaneously worked towards his master’s degree in human relations, which he received from the University of Oklahoma, with a 4.0 grade point average, in 2003.He is survived by his wife Sue Ellen and four children.Photo by Shane T.
