The trial was politically charged and allegations of anti-immigrant and anti-anarchist bias on the part of the judge and prosecution resulted in mass demonstrations by activists petitioning for the men’s release.These plaster masks were prepared immediately after the two men’s executions by electrocution and are part of the large Sacco and Vanzetti Collection at the BPL, which also includes photographs, defense papers, and a crematory containing a portion of the men’s comingled ashes.
