| 説明 | "In preparation to fire for record this coming Friday. My firing has improved quite a bit since the last time I fired, but the right side of my face is taking its usual beating. At present my eye is split again and well plastered with adhesive tape. By the time I get out of this Marine Corps I should resemble a badly beaten ex “pug”. I understand they recently passed a bill authorizing the commissioning of twelve hundred college men as officers in the United States Marine Corps. Is it due to the fact that I’m a common enlisted man, and am banded forever as such, that I don’t come under the category of a college man? Did I lost my diploma when I enlisted? Or perhaps the two years I spent trying to learn the trade of soldiering don’t compare with four years of R.O.T.C. work."From the Edward L. Parke Collection (COLL/5627) at the Archives Branch, Marine Corps History Division OFFICIAL USMC PHOTOGRAPH |
