| 説明 | "It seems to me that two years of actual duty should be the equal of four years of playing soldier once a week. But the thoughts and opinions of an enlisted man don’t amount to a tinker’s damn. They might allow certain members of the enlisted personnel to take an examination for commission, but you may rest assured the examination would be too difficult for the majority of them to make a passing grade. It is highly problematical that such an examination will be offered. That is only an idea of my own construction. Well that’s about all I have time for. I’ll write again and let you know our probably date of departure. It is now rumored that we are going to Martinique.Love,EdThanks for the card. I would have sent you one, but was unable to make the purchase. Ed"From the Edward L. Parke Collection (COLL/5627) at the Archives Branch, Marine Corps History Division OFFICIAL USMC PHOTOGRAPH |
