Developed by company Bricks A/S, also known for the Strandpromenaden project of Copenhagen and Frederiks Plads in Aarhus.Nicolinehus is designed to act as a link between the old Aarhus, inspired by building styles of the past, and the modern Aarhus Ø. The address will become Nikoline Kochs Plads (note the difference in spelling: Nicoline/Nikoline)Situated with Bernhardt Jensens Boulevard to the SE, Kristine Nielsens Gade to the NE and Dagmar Petersens Gade to the NW. This site has been used for parking, as well as storage of construction materials and huge piles of gravel, crushed concrete and asphalt for the first many years of the development of Aarhus Ø. Some years ago, it also held the building of Aarhus Søfartsmuseum, now demolished. As construction fields on the outer (NE) end of Aarhus Ø begin to fill up, attention is slowly turning to the inner parts, closer to the old city, and Nicolinehus is one such new project. In may 2018, work had barely started. The huge piles of stuff had been mostly cleared to make room for construction, but that was about the only visible sign that something was happening. The Mercedes-Benz truck of Kristian Rytter was busy drilling soil samples in various locations around the site. This photo was taken on my way out to Aarhus Ø, from Bernhardt Jensens Boulevard. Another photo shot later in the day on my way back shows the truck, moved to a different location and seen from Dagmar Petersens Gade.To follow the construction of Nicolinehus and get an impresseion of the what the endresult will look like, visit the project's own website here nicolinehus.dk/ (danish language)To view the approximate photo location in Google Maps, go here goo.gl/maps/H7tpPLdaZ372Photos from the Aarhus Ø district have their very own collection here www.flickr.com/photos/lavulv/collections/72157704642250185/ It is very(!) much a work in progress, but the long term idea is to give an impression of the transformation of Aarhus Ø from container terminal to housing- and leisure district.Tip: to locate trucks of particular interest to you, check my collections page, "truck collection" (www.flickr.com/photos/lavulv/collections/72157684190396672/ ) - here you will find all trucks organized in albums, by haulier (with zip-codes), year, brand and country.Retirement age for trucks: many used trucks are offered for sale on international markets. If sold to a foreign buyer, this will not be listed in the danish motor registry, so a "retired" truck may or may not have been exported. In other words, the "retirement age" only shows the age, at which the truck stopped running on danish license plates. |
