| 説明 | "will not be given by the battery commanders, but will be prepared by the Bureau of Ordnance of the Navy Department. The first examinations will be given in the near future. I have it on very good authority-the Battalion Commander-that we leave for Cuba the twenty sixth of this month. Apparently this is the real thing and not a false alarm as there are two transports waiting at Charlestown and the flat cars-for the transportation of guns and equipment-are now on the siding. We are as disorganized as ever, but the big, brass hats are going to make a move if only for appearances sake. Personally I believe we are being sent there to get us out of the way. We are certainly doing no one any good here. All for the present.Love, Ed"From the Edward L.
