(legume, pea, or bean family) Origin: Malaysia, now widely cultivated in the Asian tropicsSometimes it is called Snowy Orchid Tree. Like the other Orchid Trees the leaves are are interestingly shaped like ox hooves. Expect Bauhinas to not look very good in the winter. As the weather gets cooler it will loose a lot of its leaves, only to resprout as the weather warms up.
