Allen Jr. of Mount Gilead, N.C., was stationed in England with Headquarters, 10th Photographic Group (Reconnaissance), U.S. Army Air Forces. Allen noted in a caption on the back about how the tree behind Jarrard’s head made it look like the balding man had hair: “See the beautiful tree hair” [circa 1944]. |
