| 説明 | "A disturbance ashore”. Apparently no one loves a Marine. Not even his own officers.I attended a court martial last Wednesday. Not as the accused, but as an orderly, with the duties of conducting the culprit to the presence of the court and summoning the witnesses. I have never seen such a farce in my life. The prisoner was accused of sleeping on watch and leaving his post without being properly relieved, but the court was more concerned with who was the senior officer present than with whether the prisoner was guilty or not. They would question the prisoner, or witnesses, for a few minutes then the court would adjourn for a half an hour while the officers comprising the court swore at each other, pounded on the table, or invoked the Naval"From the Edward L.
