| 説明 | Oxpeckers can form both mutualistic and parasitic symbiotic relationships with various ungulates, like these Red-billed Oxpeckers on the back of a Rhino. They look for protein-rich food sources, so will eat parasites like ticks attached to large mammals. This is clearly of benefit to the mammal, so mutualistic. However, the Oxpecker also feeds on blood and tissue of open wounds, keeping the wound open for longer - a big disadvantage for the mammal, hence parasitic.Find out about many different animals at www.crazycreatures.org |
