| 説明 | I do not know why the river walk is known as the Marina but I do recommend the area as well worth a visit.While walking along the Marina in Cork I came across a public park and pond [the Atlantic Pond] beside the GAA stadium and to be honest I would not describe it as attractive but it did appear to be popular with walkers and joggers. The Atlantic Pond is a breeding site for grey herons and is is also home to other waterbirds and mallard, Little Grebe and Little Egret. In the winter Tufted Duck, Pochard and many species of gull can also be seen there. I have come across an number of headlines such as the following: "An investigation has been launched into a suspected pollution incident in Cork city’s Atlantic Pond, which is an important breeding ground for grey herons." so it would appear that there is an ongoing problem in the area. |
