説明 | The Sunday Times began to put on its charity fun runs in 1978.The Barlow referenced on the lads' t-shirts is the controversial Sir William Barlow, appointed by Labour to run the Royal Mail and Post Office Telephones in 1977, who went on to oversee the break-up of the organisation prior to privatisation under the Tories in 1980. Barlow was a doughty industrialist on the old model and from the period during which British governments were actually bothered about industry and asserted vigorous national strategies. This is presumably not the same fun run as this one. |
