| 説明 | A bottle of Akevitt Porter from HaandBryggeriet in Drammen, Norway, at Olympen in Oslo.HaandBryggeriet made a first attempt at brewing this beer, Aqua Vita Porter, early in 2009. That version was based on their regular 7% Porter which had been aged for 7 months in Aqua Vita barrels. It turned out fairly acidic, so the brewery decided to beef up the Porter to 10% abv and reduce the aging to three months. The result was this batch, #225, named Akevitt Porter. The 10% abv Akevitt Porter pours a thick black color with a nice, frothy brown head. Aroma is complex, with the roasted porter character, some sweet malt, wood and akevitt notes. Even some smoke, wow! The mouthfeel is rich, creamy smooth with perfect carbonation. Flavors explode in your mouth, of roasted malt, caramel and chocolate, akevitt and wood and vanilla. Towards the end the bitterness takes over but all the above mentioned flavors remain long into the finish. A bold, delicious and wonderful beer. A world class beer!Even compared to Nøgne Ø Sunturnbrew, this beer stands out and is probably going to end up as my personal favorite Norwegian beer of 2009. |
