My photos are FREE for anyone to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know, thanks.Sorry for posting so many pictures of this lighthouse but it was my first and probably last time to go to it.---------------------------------------------------------------------------The first lighthouse was an octagonal wooden tower with an attached dwelling. It was built in 1852 at the end of a sand bar at the entrance of Parrsboro harbour. In 1873 a storm washed away roughly one hundred feet of protective work around the station. The lighthouse was routinely threatened by storms over the years and eventually succumb to erosion around 1945 and was replaced by a beacon on top of a skeletal tower.The present lighthouse was constructed in 1980, a square tower rising from the corner of a one-story building.Tower Height: 6.4m (21ft) highLight Height: 8.53m (28ft) above water levelScenic Drive: Glooscap Trail |
