| 説明 | A closer view of the 8- coupled driving wheels of the YG metre gauge steam locomotive # 3437 plinthed outside Chandigarh station, unfortunately wearing a colour she never bore in regular service and missing the characteristic YG and YP's smoke deflectors. Like their 4-6-2 YP sisters which were used on metre gauge passenger trains, the freight version, the 2- 8- 2 YG's were also initially imported from Germany and from Baldwin, USA. The locomotives were later built in India by Chittaranjan and by Telco. The last MG steam engine built in India in 1972 was also a YG, un-named and bearing the road number YG 3572. Some refurbished YG's were also sold to Tanzania in the 1970s and a YG used to make a short inroad into Nepal on the short trip from Raxaul to Birgunj till the line was abandoned, also around that time.
