ShookRemark: The imposing ten-story Knights of Columbus Club-Hotel, the first set-back type of architecture in the city, was erected in 1926 at a cost of $2,000,000. It is one of the finest club hotels in the state with 120 rooms for men. In addition to its magnificent lodge rooms, it includes a swimming pool, bowling alleys, ballroom and smaller recreational parlors.------The following news item appeared in the July 29, 1926, issue of The Chesterton Tribune:LOCAL-SOCIAL-PERSONALThe cornerstone of the million dollar Knights of Columbus building at 5th and Madison streets, Gary, will be laid at 4:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, August 8, the Rt. Rev. John F. Noll, bishop of Fort Wayne, officiating. Bishop Noll, high church dignitaries and national leaders of the Knights of Columbus will be honored guests. The new building is of steel and brick construction with terra cotta trim.
