| 説明 | So you may or may not recall this is the same bookstore we visited in Shinjuku. Well they have a franchise in NY, and I really wanted to go there and check out their collection of Japanese-language books. As it turns out, about half the store is Japanese-language stuff, while the rest is English-language titles that are related to Japan in some way. Unfortunately they have imported some shopping customs from Japan as well, such as not allowing pictures inside and wrapping the comic books in plastic so you can't browse them. This was kind of a bummer because comics are much easier to read than books, and one of the main reasons I wanted to go to a bookstore instead of shopping online was to be able to look through them before I buy. Overall it was still helpful to see them there in person though; I ended up buying a couple which I surmised would be at my reading level although they are clearly geared towards kids or young adults. |
