| 説明 | This hat was completed in stages from December 2006 through February 2007. I knit the hat in Manos del Uruguay handpainted yarn in a color called Wildflowers. I used a top-down hat pattern from the I'm Knitting as Fast as I Can blog at ma2ut.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_ma2ut_archive.html. I used a half-linen stitch and an I-cord bind-off to which worked really well with the variegated colorway of the warn. When I wore the hat, though, I didn't find it warm enough. Nor did it cover enough of my ears. So, I decided to add on ear flaps, following the instructions in the Kim's Hats pattern in "Last Minute Knitted Gifts." The hat still didn't seem dense enough, so I picked up stitches along the inside and used some yarn leftovers to knit an inverted hat on the inside. (See the photo with my hat's secret revealed). Finally, a warm hat for a cold winter! |
