| 説明 | Other than the Chamberlain Clock Tower, this was one of the buildings in the area that looked quite interesting. It is the Warstone Lane Cemetery Lodge, on you guessed it Warstone Lane in the Jewellery Quarter. It is a Grade II listed building built in 1848 by J R Hamilton of Gloucester (Hamilton & Medland). It is of blue-grey engineered brick in Flemish bond with limestone dressings. Steeply pitched slate roof with crested ridge tiles and stonecoping to gable ends. Gable end and axial stacks, each with 3octagonal ashlar shafts with moulded caps and base, the south weststack is corbelled out from gable end.Rectangular plan with central carriageway; cemetery keeper'scottage on left (north west) and offices on right (north east).Tudor Gothic style. It is at 161 Warstone Lane. You could also call this building a gatehouse.Hamilton and Medland were strongly influenced by the work of Augustus Pugin, the leading architect of the time. In an elaborate Gothic style, built from blue Staffordshire stone, with an oriel window above the arch.Warstone Lane Cemetery Lodge - Heritage Gateway |
