Wolf River Harbor was the Wolf River's channel until 1960, when it was dammed and diverted, turning this area into a Mississippi River slackwater harbor. About this time, a bunch of kids ran out of the Montessori school on Mud Island and started chanting things like "Two, four, six, eight! Who do we appreciate? Gary and Fitz!"
