説明We never knew Peach's whole story- he was a beautiful blonde-palomino color. Mothra was very attentive to him when he first appeared, and we thought Moth had found a girlfriend, but it turned out he was a boy, a very, very pretty boy. His pads were all torn up and he was skinny, he'd walked a long way to be on Catalpa Street, in Santa Cruz. We posted "Cat Found" notices but nobody claimed him, which was just as well. He was a sweet guy, full of gentle goodness. One day I hear a funny noise from the pantry, and when I got there, Peach was looking at me, not unlike this look, very guilty of something, but what?? It happened again, and again, and eventually I realized he was leaning over a cardboard box under a table and batting around the small, dry, abandoned, potato that was in the box. Wsh whish thump! Funny guy. Cuddly too.Peach came from somewhere and both he and Mothra disappeared when we were living in the slum in Capitola. We mourned them both, put up signs, offered a reward, I checked the SPCA so often you'd think I was a bail bondsman. The grief settled to an ache. A month after they disappeared, Moth turned up across town, mistaken for a raccoon. I like to think Peach lived a full life after us, with other people. He really was as sweet as he looks.Entered my life in, um, 1977, left before 1981.Photo is smallish format Polaroid, of the time and peel variety, with a folding bellows type camera. I managed to take a number of personal favorites with this camera, which was borrowed from someone when Lori and Ted and I were living on Stanford Avenue, two blocks from the Catalpa St. house.
