説明 | Mt Eden. This dormant volcanic cone was named after George Eden the Lord of Auckland. It last erupted about 15,000 years ago. Mt Eden’s peak is about 200 metres above sea level. Before 1700 it was used as a fortified Maori pa but deserted around 1700. White settlers farmed this area before the suburb was created between 1870 and 1875. Mt Eden itself is one of 48 volcanic cones in Auckland. From the top of the hill you get marvellous views of the CBD of Auckland and the harbour. If you are a garden lover you can return and visit the flower garden here which has an admission fee. |
