| 説明 | Monument in white limestone of Nicholas Everleigh 1562-dsp1618 commissioned by his wife Alice, is believed to have been made by the Exeter sculptor John Deymond and is similar to that of John Ackland 1620 at Broadclyst flic.kr/p/xSBkiC The only inscription is "1620 ID" on an otherwise blank panel above the effigy, Nicholas was Steward of the Devon Stannaries, who died aged 56 when the roof of Chagford Stannary Court House collapsed, killing him and 9 others.A barrister he served as Steward of the Stannary Court of Ashburton, and bought the estate of Parke here in 1608 He was the 5th son of John Eveleigh of Holcombe 1586 & 2nd wife Joane daughter of John Southcott 1556 of Indio, Bovey Tracey by Joan Hankford, Her father was steward of Thomas Cromwell through whom he obtained several monastic holdings & "Bwilded a fayre howse in Indio & dwelled theire".
