説明 | A truly tough plant, often living where hardly any others manage, such as as areas with almost no real soil, just layers of volcanic ash. It's often bushlike, perhaps getting to be 2-3 metres in diameter and about 2m high if conditions are right (for example, near Bandama). Its common name is related to "vinegar". I've heard from people who kept animals that some of it can be given to goats, but too much will spoil their milk. When we had a goat she wouldn't touch the stuff (she was rather spoiled) so I couldn't say for myself). It seems to have a cousin in Hawaii. This photo was taken near the village of Valsequillo, Gran Canaria, but it's found in many places around the Canary Islands.See where the photo was taken at maps.yuan.cc/. |
