| 説明 | On the website of Couchsurfing I read a message about the Museum Night in Antwerpen. I needed a weekend break with no renovation works in the house and wanted to do something cultural with Eva. So we contacted the man who had written the posting, to see if he could host us. We were the only ones who had responded so we could stay at his place. We took the train and arrived in the evening. The museum were pretty crowded, with 11.000 other visitors, resulting in a total of 40.000 visits to 15 different museums. Our Couchsurfing host served us a soup and then we started our “night”. We enjoyed the secrets of the Maagdenmuseum and learned about the history of a school for young girls. Afterwards we went to the Museum Mayer Van den Bergh where we were amazed by the passion of Fritz Mayer Van den Bergh. On his own he collected hundreds of paintings, drawings and sculptures. We finished our evening in a local pub where I tasted some typical Belgian beer. Before going to sleep I took the opportunity to take a steam sauna in Emiels bathroom. After a late breakfast we walked through old Berghem, the famous Cogels-Osylei and we had a drink on the terrace of Den Draak, and then it was time to catch the train back home. |
