| 説明 | Info on this clock tower:"Santa Monica’s first, and for a long time only, high-rise, was designed by Walker and Eisen in Art Deco style in 1929. This 12-story commercial/office building is rectangular in plan, and is capped by a stepped clock tower. The Art Deco ornamentation of the building resembles other Southern California office buildings of its era. They had in common towers rising out of wide horizontal bases, Zigzag Moderne ornamentation, and a kind of airy, offhand elegance.The Bay Cities Guaranty Building at 225 Santa Monica Boulevard is located within the Bayside Commercial District adjacent to the Third Street Promenade. The Art Deco ornamentation of the building is defined by the alternating wide and narrow full-façade-height pylons flanking double-hung windows, creating an undulating pattern across the elevations, and terminating in a crenellated roofline. The Art Deco ornamentation also consists of zigzag patterns along the cornice with receded chevron patterns and upper story spandrels.
