| 説明 | A few fascinating snippets pertaining to Sutherland Constabulary, and its successor (Ross & Suthertland Constabulary from 16.5.1963). I wish to extend my appreciation to those kind folks (family members of former officers) who supplied the photos/cuttings.Ross & Sutherland Constabulary's new speed radar equipment (housed in the back of one of the former Sutherland force's then-ubiquitous Mini vans) being inspected by Chief Constable Kenneth Ross in October 1963, only a matter of months after the merger with Ross-shire. Although the image is poor quality - being a newspaper cutting - it is a historical milestone and a rare photo of a Sutherland police Minivan, NS5231 (and it appears there is another parked just in front of it). The Constable on the left is the late Malcolm (Mackie) Cumming, and the Sergeant is believed to be Sgt Alexander Warrander, newly promoted to Brora. (The location looks very like Golspie). |
