In most other cities you would find very sparse padding or even plain plastic seats, but in Aarhus you were offered a comfortable ride. Unfortunately vandals loved to dig into the seats and hollow them out, so lots of repairs were necessary. When Aarhus Sporveje switched to Solaris buses in 2007, the seats got much harder and the padding reduced by roughly 75%... this lead to a public outcry and it was decided to increase the padding (slightly) again, but never again did it get anywhere near the old level.Like several others of the year 2000 buses, 390 went on to serve at the training facility KTA Viborg, where it remains in service by early 2018.2000 saw the arrival of the last batch of Volvo B10M buses to the fleet of Aarhus Sporveje.The high-entry/high-floor buses had fallen out of favour with the decision makers, so the following year there would be drastic changes.But for this final year, things were still like they used to be. Aarhus Sporveje purchased 19 standard length (12 m) buses like this one (fleet numbers 378 to 396) and two Volvo B10MA-55 18 m bendy-buses (fleet numbers 451 and 452... also the last of these) |
