| 説明 | From the adjacent sign board:-“This engine was recovered from the crash site of Airspeed Oxford I Serial No L4597 in 1974 by the Scottish West Aviation Investigation Group (SWAIG).The aircraft was in transit from Cambridge to RAF Kinloss on 2nd March 1942 when due to icing up and inclement weather the pilot was required to make a forced landing on the frozen Loch Laiden on Rannoch Moor.The aircraft caught fire and sank through the ice into the water.”The remarkably complete Cheetah is now on display in the Bamburgh Castle Aviation Artefacts Museum,Bamburgh Castle, Northumberland, UK.12th September 2017 |
