| 説明 | Saumur (Maine-et-Loire)Le pont Cessart.Le 3 mai 1756 commence l'immense chantier du " pont neuf ", qui regroupe jusqu'à 800 salariés sous la direction du sous-ingénieur Louis-Alexandre de Cessart. Ce délai de trois ans et trois mois entre l'avant-projet et le début des travaux peut être considéré comme exceptionnellement court. La construction débute par l'entrée nord du pont. Elle recourt d'abord à la méthode traditionnelle des batardeaux, qui entourent une zone asséchée, dans laquelle est fondée et construite la pile. Malgré des travaux menés jour et nuit, le débit des pompes s'avère insuffisant, si bien que la réalisation de la culée septentrionale et de la première pile est jugée imparfaite. Cessart, soutenu par de Voglie et par l'inspecteur général Jean-Rodolphe Perronet, a recours à des procédés hardis, considérés encore comme expérimentaux. Au terme de 12 années d'un chantier permanent, les arches du nouveau pont de pierre sont achevées par François-Michel Lecreulx en 1768, et l'ouvrage est enfin ouvert à la circulation en 1770.
