| 説明 | After this episode, news of Ah Pack quietened down. It seems that he spent the next decade or so as a gold miner in Central Otago, particularly in the area around Naseby. However, his condition deteriorated after the tumultuous circumstances of 1880. The catalysing event of Ah Pack’s difficult situation was the murder of a Mrs Young, which was to become known as the Kyeburn murder. In 1881, Ah Pack was interned at Seacliff as insane. One of his symptoms was that he believed he was being accused of killing Mrs Young, even though the authorities had long arrested and executed the alleged murder.
