The site is a great spot for birdwatching during annual migrations, and a premiere place for enjoying the night skies. The reservoir collects surface runoff from nearby seasonal streams, including Jack Creek, Antelope Creek, Cantor Creek, plus flood waters from Jordan Creek channeled to the reservoir through the Antelope Feeder Canal. In addition to providing recreational opportunities, the reservoir provides irrigation water to area ranchers and farmers through the Jordan Valley Irrigation District.
