| 説明 | This is a North-centered panorama from the southwest military crest of the southwest spur of Santa Rosa Mountain. The directions are pretty much: East at right, North at center, West at left. Going center to left: San Jacinto is on the horizon at center, the dark mountain behind the tree is Thomas Mountain, and and the saddle-shaped mountain left of that is a pointer to where (hidden in the haze) Santiago Peak and Elsinore Peak lie. At far left, the high point on the dark mountains is Palomar High Point. The slight prominence on the horizon at San Jacinto Peak is at center (masked by a tree). You can see a pannable, zoomable, labelled synthetic view from this location at the Peakfinder website (click here). You can also see a map of which peaks are visible from this location, with their range and bearing, at the HeyWhatThat website, (click here).Operation On-Target runs from 10AM to noon. While few of you are likely to be interested in this location for Operation On-Target, I can recommend it to photographers seeking panoramic views, or hikers seeking a scenic picnic spot! After these preliminary photos, I hiked back to the Jeep and we hauled in all the gear ( a half-mile hike over the crest, with only a couple spots where a steadying hand was needed). You can get the photo location/time details by clicking on "View EXIF" at right, but they are pretty close to:Latitude: 33 deg 32' 2.57" N, Longitude: 116 deg 27' 49.67" Waltitude 2443 mTime: 9:26:40, 7/15/2017. The coordinates in decimal and feet are:(33.53404, -116.46379), (8015 ft) |
