People at the King's Bastion were the first to know of any danger and could easily get the word out once the bell tower was rung.NOTE: If you look closely at the clock there is a mistake (view large)! The roman numeral for #4 is not IIII but IV. One reason to use IIII is that it creates more visual symmetry with the VIII opposite it on the clock face than IV does.The King's Bastion Barracks is the largest building on site and in its day was one of the largest buildings in North America. It housed the Governor’s and Officers’ quarters, a chapel, which also served as the fortress town’s parish church, and barracks for the common soldiers. |
