| 説明 | A Chinese checkers board at the table where my guide Yang and I settled down to have our coffee. (I think Yang opted for tea). I am very familiar with Chinese checkers as this was the favourite after-dinner pastime of my grandparents (bless their souls) when I was a little kid. Fast forward some 50 years, and I'd seen groups of Chinese playing the game back in Beijing. I was therefore pleasantly surprised to see the game laid out right in front of us. Of course we did not play it, but I was fascinated by the very presence of the game on my table and the rather unusual star shaped board. Yang was very plesaed with this picture as well so this was another of those I'd sent her on WeChat. (Guilin, China, May 2017) |
