Among the odd jobs which kept him from going under completely was playing the organ for the Brothers of Mercy in Eisenstadt. Chorzempa uses the same instrument for the Hob XVIII/5 Concerto. His playing is sheer delight and the German Bach Soloists are warm and fulsome in their loving accompaniments. The other two Eisenstadt organs are thought to have been at Haydn's disposal during these lean years. The bright reverberant sound is first class. An Outstanding achievement. G. R. |
