| 説明 | South aisle monument to Richard Delabere / De la Bere c1559-dsp 1636 & wife Margaret Newman who erected it in 1639 at a cost o f £400. Richard of Southam was the son of Kennard Delabere of Kinnersley and Tyberton 1607 by Elizabeth daughter of Sir John Huddleston of MillomA lawyer, he was an MP and attorney-general on the great sessions circuit in south-west Wales by the mid-1590sHis professional fortunes flourished in the first decade of the reign of James l : he was Reader at Lincoln’s Inn in 1606-7, and in 1611 was appointed to help report ways of improving government at the Inn, particularly the reformation of ‘religion and manners’. He inherited his family’s estates after his brother’s death in 1607, and over the next 2 years he bought the 800-acre manor of Southam from Robert Cecil 1st Earl of Salisbury for £3,200, where he made his home.Margaret was the heiress daughter of Margaret & John Newman of Bellington. She inherited after the death of her brothers Richard d1607 & Gerard who died young. Richard died at Southam on 25 Feb. 1636. He left no will and no children.
