| 説明 | This rest house still functions as a rest house of sorts, my guide Yang told me. This was perhaps one of the quarters used for visiting businessmen. A peek inside the building revealed a single man sitting on a stool and texting. I seem to recall a woman as well, but she quickly moved away and out of sight. It's history aside, the Daxu old town is now rather touristy. I'd read that while walking around the town, one can see local crafts workshops and see how local people make Chinese lanterns, or paint monkey or lion head masks. I';d read that you can also hear from the odd local family about their life and work. Well, that does sound rather touristy, doesn't it? Well, I could unfortunately see one of those activities going on as most of the people were indoors and out of sight due to the intermittent rains, which was at times heavy.
