説明 | Closely related to Danthonia, Schismus arabicus is an early flowering cool season grass that appears to prosper where vegetation has been reduced because of human activity such as construction and a long history of overgrazing. This grass is analogous to cheatgrass in the sagebrush steppe in that it can become dominant in large tracts well away from roadsides in the Mohave Desert. Commonly coexisting with other annual species of the genera Mentzelia, Amsinckia, and Erodium (the latter introduced). Cheatgrass is sporadic and not super abundant in this region. |
