| 説明 | One last look around Cluny before we left the area. After lunch went up some steps to check out more of the Cluny Abbey buildings. Mainly to see the Hôtel de Ville.Palais Jacques d'Amboise - Hôtel de Ville Palais Jacques d'Amboise - Town HallThe Palace of Jacques d'AmboiseNow Cluny Town Hall, this palace, buily by Abbot Jacques d'Amboise (1485-1510), embodies architectural evolution in the Late Middle Ages. It's façade, made up of a central crops de logis flanked by two projecting pavillions, perfectly reflects changing tastes, which were becoming more refined. The fine decoration of alabaster plates that adorns the pavillions, with Gothic tracery on the first floor and the rinceaux on the second, prefigure the Renaissance. Originally linked to the Palace of Jean de Bourbon by galleries, the palace is turned to the east and the light thanks to a terrace overlooking the garden. It's tower with a large spiral staircase, located opposite, serves the two floors that once comprised four apartments intended for guests.Views from the park. sculptures |
