説明 | 2009 04 143rd of 3 acts (headlining) at the the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.I had discovered Ladytron's music only a couple months ago, and I almost instantaneously fell in love. The show was generally good -- the visuals kept the audience enthralled, which is oftentimes a lacking element of electronic music concerts. However, Ladytron could've benefitted from trimming their songs down a bit & instead playing a couple additional songs. Repeating rhythms is great on CD, but not so much at a concert (unless it's arranged as a dance club... which this was not).Regardless, it was still a great show -- even with Mira's microphone glitches which prompted the two girls to spend a couple minutes on stage intermittently chatting with the audience. They said they've never had to just chat before, and the nervousness crossing their faces -- as if a schoolchild giving a speech before the class -- made them seem so much more human; not just some figures presenting a flawless rendition of something I've heart countless times on CD.I'm not sure how keen I was on Helen Marnie's retro hair, but I did like her suit... and when she placed her hand on her hip, she seemed to assert this great power pose. Lest I not forget Mira Aroyo, who captured my full attention the moment she'd start singing in Bulgarian. Mira danced about the stage during one of the songs -- her dance seemed so carefree and light-footed, only driving the infatuation I seemed to have with her that night. |
