| 説明 | 13.5.2017.UNPRECEDENTED ECUMENICAL GESTURE AT FIRST EVER BEATIFICATION IN IRELAND..Fr John Sullivan SJ was Beatified today 13th May 2017 in St Francis Xavier Church Gardiner St Dublin. In an unprecedented ecumenical gesture the request for Beatification which took place during the mass was made by the Church of Ireland and Catholic Archbishops together reflecting the fact that Fr John was an Anglican for the first half of his life and Roman Catholic for the second. In fact the entire event is unprecedented as there has never been a Beatification cermony in Ireland before. The prinicipal celebrant and homilist was Cardinal Angelo Amato Prefect of the Congregation for the Cause of Saints. Beatification which confers the title 'Blessed' means that a man or woman is considered truly holy and worthy of veneration at local level. The next stage after Beatification is Canonisation 'Sainthood' Pic shows Cardinal Angelo Amato Prinicipal celebrant at the mass for Beatification of Fr John Sullivan SJ venerating two relics of Fr John during the mass on Saturday in Dublin.
