| 説明 | A "parking meter" (presumably so the money can't be stolen...) in the America Plaza San Diego Trolley station in downtown San Diego, CA. The sign reads: "Donate here to reduce panhandling and raise funds to end homelessness in Downtown* (San Diego) An interesting idea, but who collects the money? (...and who distibutes it? How? And to whom?) Taken by a Nikon D610 at ISO 400 with a Nikkor 50mm ƒ 1.4 AF-D lens.Probably a "parking meter" that the SD PD found out was not giving accurate time, and couldn't be fixed. (Berkeley, CA had that problem with this type of meter, found out by a grade school girl, as a science project – and the meters were short-changing [as in giving less time than was paid for!] almost everyone (95%) who fed them!...This started one heck of a controversy [the girl got published in all the local papers] as to how to re-pay everyone that had received an overtime-at-a-meter parking ticket, given that many of them had a legitimate beef - Berkeley finally decided to refund the last years OT,M [overtime, meter] parking tickets, removed all the meters in the city and didn't install new ones [hopefully checked for proper time-keeping! for another year. [but there was still a one-hour limit on parking in downtown Berkeley...]) |
