| 説明 | Slightly-blurry snapshot of Lacy B. Hall Jr. of Burlington, N.C., sitting in the closed gun turret on top of his North American B-25 Mitchell medium bomber while it was parked at an unidentified location in the Southwest Pacific around 1944 during World War II. Hall Jr. was serving as a gunner at the time in the 500th Bombardment Squadron, 345th Bombardment Group (Medium), 5th Air Force, U.S. Army Air Forces. Seen painted below his gun turret is “’Lil Jimmie,” for his new-born son that he had never met [circa 1944] [the airfield is believed to be at Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, or Biak Island].From Lacy B. Hall Jr. Papers, WWII 166, WWII Papers, Military Collection, State Archives of North Carolina, Raleigh, N.C. |
