| 説明 | A temporary lunatic asylum was built in Christchurch at the Sunnyside site on Lincoln Road in 1863; patients were formerly held at the Lyttelton Gaol. The main buildings, pictured here, were designed by Benjamin Mountfort in Victorian Gothic style and constructed 1871-1876. The buildings were imposing and the grounds vast. The hospital closed in 1999 and the last of the main buildings was demolished in 2007.
