| 説明 | We have kept hens for 13 years and always enjoyed having them about the place. Ultra-fresh eggs are only underrated by people that have never tried them . I do occasionally take pictures of the hens but probably should take many more - they really are the best posers. Although I sometimes reckon dinosaurs would have been similarly good at posing for the camera - we will never know.In recent weeks we have gone down to 2 hens (2 sad stories in last 6 months) and the 2 survivors are 5 years old so not producing eggs at the rate that they used to. So time to get a few more hens. Any time we have got new hens in the past they have been bought as "point of lay pullets" about 17 weeks oldMelissa has been trying to persuade me that we should get some "rescue" ex-battery hens and I gave in & got these 3 today. So glad I did. The 3 we got today were 18 month old hens that were destined for slaughter but were rescued by www.facebook.com/NutHouseHenRescue/They have settled really well this evening - in a separate house and run from the old hens but destined to all be united at the end of the summer. They look so healthy (i wasnt really expecting this) and happy and are enjoying food, water, and grass. Tullynacree things I take for granted! (ok I dont eat grass but I do like looking at it) |
